Diary of an Affiliate Marketer
Before I went to The System Intensive Seminar at The Sheraton in London I had been watching the DVD’s from the seminar held earlier in the year in Chicago.
One of the DVD’s particularly caught my attention because it was a presentation given by James Martell who is well known for his success at affiliate marketing.
Whilst there are many people who advocate driving all their traffic with Google Adwords, James is excellent at obtaining free traffic through the search engines by getting his pages to rank highly on the search results.
In fact he has amazing success which is why his business thrives and he has so many people signing up for his Bootcamp where you learn all about his seo model and how to achieve the same page rankings that his sites achieve.
It was whilst I was watching his excellent presentation given at Chicago that he reminded me of one of the fundamentals for good search engine optimization (seo).
These days everyone recognizes that Google is the number one search engine and therefore to maximize your success you need to rank highly within Google’s search engine rankings.
Unfortunately Google has so many algorithms measuring the reactions of visitors to websites that it is impossible for anyone to tell you what Google is measuring and how to make sure you are being measured and ranked highly.
However, all the professionals in the business such as James Martell all agree that what Google wants is quality unique content that is added on a frequent basis. To expand on that James believes that adding fresh unique content every day is a must with Google.
Having remembered this point I started writing and uploading pages on my florida scuba diving site before attending The System Seminar and had seen the results for myself.
The Florida site ranks 1 or 2 on Yahoo and MSN for its main keyword ‘Florida Scuba Diving’. On Google the best I had reached was 400 plus which wasn’t bad out of 1.2 million results but of no use to me if I wanted to really push this site.
Once I started adding content daily to the site it came as no surprise after listening to James Martell to see my rankings improve up to 200 plus.
There is a lot more work to do before I will get it onto page 1 for the main keywords but it is nice to see simple advice working in action and my intention is to carry on uploading one page per day whilst I follow James’s advice for article writing and submitting.
Article writing and submitting to the right sites is an art and science in itself and I know James discussed it in great depth on the DVD so I’m going to watch it again after I have written 3 articles, 2 for the Florida site and 1 for this site.
The one thing that continues to surprise me is that I have become a good writer considering it was never my favourite subject at school.
It proves yet again that anyone can do anything if they repeat it for 30 days and make it a habit.
