Diary of an Affiliate Marketer
Thursday already and I feel like I haven’t done as much this week but I think when I check my work against my Weekly Work Sheet tomorrow I’ll be okay.
Like all things new, getting to grips with Thesis and Wordpress is taking time. Don’t get me wrong, the actual use of it is simplicity itself it’s just that I want to ensure I have captured all the search engine optimization tasks and not left anything out.
As I have said before Thesis does all the seo work for you but I still like to check that everything is optimized as much as possible to rank for those important keywords.
Had some great news today and I’m already re-organising my diary to leave November 16th free for a trip to Manchester.
When I was at The System Intensive Seminar the other week we had been talking to Ken McCarthy and thought that he would no longer be coming to the UK to give seminars and to be frank we were devastated.
Forunately for us Ken only meant he needed someone in the UK to do some of the organising because they are such big events to organise from The States.
Well even better news for us is that Ken McCarthy and Mark Attwood are organising a one day seminar in November called ‘The Art of Blogging for Business’ which as some people know can make you a fortune if you know how to use it.
Even better news for me is I know some of the people I met at the recent London seminar will be there and we can compare notes on the latest trends with Google and making money online.
I have nearly finished the tedious work of writing up a privacy policy and uploading it to the site. The ease of use of Wordpress is amazing but I am still taking time out to play with some of the plugins that are available and when I have finished uploading all the ones I am going to use I will put a list on this website.
Fortunately James Martell that most successful of all affiliate marketers has already put a list together and with the size of his online business and the number of websites he and his family run I know these will be the plugins I need.
Since my Florida website Florida scuba diving jumped up the Google rankings for the main site keyword ‘Florida scuba diving’ I have seen a marked increase in traffic and commission from Google Adsense. Still nowhere near where I want it to be but now I know to write fresh unique content daily and since learning from James how easy it is to do I haven’t missed a day.
Once I have this website up to date and all the boring but necessary pages such as contact us, privacy and about, I will be free to work on my next project which is to write a book.
What I love about The System and all the people you come across such as Perry Marshall is that I have no fear in writing the book. The sort of thing you learn from The System is that everything is doable.
For example.
To make sure my book hits home with its target audience I am going to follow Perry’s and Ken Livingston’s advice.
Using the techniques outlined in Perry’s book The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords I intend setting up some Google ads to send traffic to my landing page. The landing page will follow the recommendations that Ken Livingston gives for market research and finding out what questions are in your target audience’s head.
So the landing page will be an offer of a FREE copy of the book when it is finished if they help me write the last two chapters by ensuring I have covered everything required for the book.
When they answer these simple questions they will actually be telling me what needs to be in the book and what my target audience is really looking for.
Then I can write it up and give them exactly what they wanted.
