Dragon Naturally Speaking

Diary of an Affiliate Marketer

Today has been a lot of fun and a lot of frustration all in one go. I installed Dragon Naturally Speaking to save time writing each day which seems to take forever with just 2 fingers!

Naturally speaking is a great piece of software and there were others at The System Intensive Seminar who swore by it and said they hadn’t typed anything for years. That sounds good to me so here I am giving it a go. I’ll let you know how I get on as first you have to set up the speech files ready for dictation so I’m sat here like a lemon repeating text to set the files up.

I had some great news today. The bookings are being taken for ‘The Art of Blogging for Business’ which is being held in Manchester and Ken McCarthy is flying back in to the UK for the event. I’ve just booked my ticket for £569 and know it’s money well spent.

These events are intense and get down into the detail and are presented by people who are already having success on the internet using blogging as the format for their business. Whilst blogging has been around for a while I believe it is the fast indexing of a page on Google that has online entrepreneurs excited about blogging and Wordpress.

The usual historical performance with Google would be you starting your website and uploading your pages. Google would come around regularly and check your sitemaps for the latest pages and index the page. The ranking would depend on the age of your site and the content and keywords uploaded and it would eventually show up on Google’s search engine.

With blogging this is done on a much faster time scale. How fast?

Well whilst at The System Intensive Seminar a demonstration was given by Mark Attwood as to how fast Google indexes you and ranks you highly on its search engines. A photo was taken of the delegates shouting how happy we were attending and posted onto Marks’s blog within minutes.

Whilst the seminar continued Mark had his colleagues continue monitoring the blog and was disappointed when it took 7 minutes to be on the first page for the keyword!

Absolutely amazing and you can understand why people are switching to Wordpress and blogging.

This was one of the reasons I switched and installed Thesis to give the blog a professional look and feel whilst still being friendly. The best part about Thesis is I can change the look and feel at the click of a mouse button without losing any of the real structure such as pages and links.

Now with the announcement of ‘The Art of Blogging Seminar’ I’m really glad I chose to switch because now I can attend with some practical experience of both Wordpress and Thesis so I will be able to learn a lot more from the delegates.

That is the great thing about these events. Everyone is in it together building businesses online and willing to share their knowledge and successful tips because in a world market none of us are a threat to the other and the free flow of information and ideas over a cup of coffee is incredible.

It’s time to check my performance against my Weekly Work Sheet tasks to see if I am hitting my aggressive targets and moving my online business forward rapidly.

70%. Consistent!

Last week when I had my first result it was 71% so at least I’m consistent. Better yet it gives me a good feeling when I look back over my weeks work and I know I have achieved a lot.

I think I will keep on setting the tasks to the same level as I am getting a lot done and I recognise that there is room for improvement in my time management. What I also like is that working this way to my blueprint I’m already beginning to recognise when I’m off track and not doing what I’m supposed to be doing and it has helped me remain focused.
