Diary of an Affiliate Marketer

I’m really glad I took the time and trouble to put a working blueprint together last Friday and used it to produce my Weekly Work Sheet.

I can’t emphasise what a godsend it’s been to me. One of the problems all the attendees had at The System Intensive Seminar was too much choice.

You see the problem for me and others was that there were so many great ideas and examples shown to us by people already doing the work and getting the results that we were spoilt for choice. That then left us with the problem of how to choose.

Now don’t get me wrong, having plenty of choice of workable money making ideas was fantastic but for me a car fanatic was like putting me in a showroom and asking me to choose between a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti or some other exotic car. The choice was just too much and I have had to sort through the choices and take a path that suits me.

James Martell gives some good advice when he discusses choosing the topic for your website. People often mention being passionate about your topic but it also has to be balanced with the ability to make profits.

I believe Ken has the right answers for choosing with The System. Without trying to cover everything here, you need to choose a market that can bring in ongoing monthly income as well as the opportunity to expand on a simple sale.

Mix this with a very smart piece of advice I heard on one of James’s podcasts. When James was talking to someone who was really struggling to pick a topic for their website he advised them to take a look around their house.

After all he reasoned your possessions are often what we are about. We collect items around us that interest us and please us.

For instance, if you took a look around my friend’s house you would find horse riding gear and photographs of two stallions.

Her passion is her horses. With her knowledge and experience keeping horses as a hobby she could write a simple eBook and make money selling it to others who want to know what is involved and how expensive keeping horses can be.

Then, expanding on this simple concept using the methods Ken McCarthy recommends in The System she could expand the book to an eBook and mp3 version of the book. The next step would be to make a series of video using a simple camera and selling that as a premium product.

The final package could be a membership site for other enthusiasts willing to pay monthly fees for top quality advice and offers. Some of this advice could be delivered through exclusive podcasts where she has interviewed experts such as vets and other professionals who would be grateful for the exposure as part of the deal.

It’s amazing when you take a little bit of advice from James, mix it with a dollop of good advice from Ken and together come up with a winning doable idea and plan for a website.

That’s why Ken and James sit on my imaginary board of directors and are called upon whenever I think I need advice to progress further.
