Diary of an Affiliate Marketer
Back to Earth today with a bump. All that energy generated the weekend has left me exhausted and my 9 month old grandson Logan has just arrived … my energy levels have just gone back up because he always brightens my day!
When I had sat in my group with Ben Moskel I had declared that my first action would be to update one of my existing websites florida scuba diving as soon as I got home so when Logan has settled down this is what I start doing.
Updating each of the pages with Google Adsense is a long and laborious job as it has well over 300 pages already but I need to get it done before I move onto the next task.
But this is where I’m beginning to come unstuck. We were given such a lot of information at an intense pace that I know all their methods and suggestions work because they follow The System and it’s just a question of implementing them.
So where do I start?
The problem is I don’t know what to progress first there is so much I know to do, but in what order and why?
On top of that this weekend gave me a lot of food for thought and there is just so many ways to make money online that I had a million and one ideas running through my brain and everyone a likely winner. So how do I choose where to focus?
One of my main problems is that with my background of working in retail shops, selling financial services, and management in a motor component factory as well as running a jazz and blues coffee bar as a hobby on the side I know I could make a serious living helping small businesses be successful online.
The trouble is I have no doubt I would make it successful but I’m not sure I want the hassle of dealing with businessmen on a day to day basis.
I’m not getting a lot done today as I’m swaying this way and that and to be honest I’m grateful for the distraction of my grandson Logan throughout the day. He’s giving my brain a rest as we play bouncy, bouncy, bouncy … don’t ask!

By the end of the day I’ve decided how I’m going to progress and know deep down that I want to continue with affiliate marketing but know I want to get serious and really start pushing on.
I spend the rest of the day looking through some of the affiliate networks looking for products to sell and narrow the choice down to just a few.
After I have had a look at the landing pages of some of the products I put some of what I learnt from Drayton on Saturday at The System Intensive and can see already why some would not convert.
It’s amazing how clearly you can see when you know what it is you are looking for and the headlines, benefits and features are either misplaced or weak so I know that when I send potential buyers to these sites they will fail to purchase.
You have to choose wisely if you are going to succeed as an affiliate marketer as you have little control over the sellers landing page. No matter how good my website and pre-selling may be a poor landing page will still fail to convert.
After carrying out some keyword research I’ve selected a product that I think will work well and decide that tomorrow I will look at this theme in greater depth as I think it has great potential.
To be frank by the end of the day I am exhausted. I think the weekend has finally caught up with me and I have had so much information and ideas whizzing through my mind that I will be grateful to get a good nights sleep and progress my plans tomorrow.
