Diary of an Affiliate Marketer
I’ve been so busy lately that I thought I had better do some affiliate revision. As I have previously mentioned I am deliberately ignoring all emails until I have finished my work each day but unfortunately this has led to a build-up of unread mail.
Going through some of those emails today I noticed that Ken McCarthy was true to his word and all the recordings and PowerPoint presentations from The System Seminar are available for download for the next two weeks only before Ken removes them.
I’ve downloaded them and decided to review some of the affiliate sessions that took place. The problem with all The System Seminar’s is there is so much information that it’s impossible to take it all in and even though I took reams and reams of notes I have been so busy that now I have gone back to my notes not all of them make sense?
By listening to the sessions I will be able to decipher my own notes!
It’s funny how you fail to remember everything that went on and I’ve just heard Ken repeat a very basic message to us all that reminds me how simple this business of affiliate marketing can be.
On the Saturday at the opening session Ken had been saying there are only two fundamentals in the online business. Get traffic and convert that traffic. Simple isn’t it?
So why are there so few people making real money online?
The main reason is because they don’t measure and they don’t test. When you start a Google Adword campaign … test. Test your advert against a second advert and measure the success of each advert. How many people go to your site for advert A and how many for advert B and how many of these convert?
Discard the loser and write advert C and test again. The Japanese have been doing this for years in industry and many other places. It’s called Kaizen and each small incremental improvement makes you that much better than the competition in your market and makes you so much more profitable.
Then carry out the same exercise on your landing page and every part of your website.
Another thing to remember when running an online business is to measure everything. When I mentioned converting traffic earlier it did not necessarily mean converting to a sale. The conversion may just have been the opting in for a free report but in time you will know how many of these people eventually convert to a sale because you’re measuring it aren’t you?
During that Saturday morning session we were shown an example where a website had improved its traffic to conversion by 19 fold! Now that’s a lot of profit from just being smarter than the next guy and working harder to get your website set up right.
The reason why the internet is still a golden opportunity for anyone willing to work is because so few people are doing it right and this is why all those delegates who have attended The System over the years have gone on to dominate their markets whether they’re selling their own goods, affiliate marketing or selling information.
They followed a system and worked The System and as a result reaped the rewards.
