Diary of an Affiliate Marketer
I’m not a big reader of books but one of the few books I do regularly refer to is the Affiliate Marketing Handbook by James Martell. I first came across James through The System Seminar when he was a guest speaker at Chicago and I have seen him referred to regularly when it comes to affiliate marketing.
A Canadian with feet on the ground attitude he has an enthusiastic personality that is infectious and he genuinely gets a thrill when students of his books and programs achieve the success they desire. That can be anything from the first check to achieving their ambitions of total independence.
James is still in the affiliate marketing business himself and earns substantial amounts of money that allows him and his family to enjoy the lifestyle that he has always wanted. Most of his business models rely heavily on obtaining free traffic which is why his book has to be one of the best ‘value for money’ books available.
I was talking to Gavin, a friend of mine who has recently signed up for James Martell’s Super Affiliate Marketing BootCamp. Gavin had been reading through the Affiliate Marketing Handbook which came with the course and had a few questions. He was pleasantly surprised and shocked when James himself replied to his email and furthermore gave Gavin plenty of tips and insight into what to expect and how James himself continues to test everything every day.
The reason I keep my copy of Affiliate Marketing Diaries as a reference book is that it is one of the few books I have come across that takes you through the whole affiliate marketing business model step by step.
Perhaps my favourite part of the book is the chapter dedicated to choosing your first topic. I know that this was my biggest hurdle back when I started. I remember being in work and pacing round trying to think of a topic that I could write about and then attract traffic to my website. I can tell you that when you are starting out it is not easy to find a topic if you are left to your own devices.
James recognized this from his early teachings. Probably the single biggest obstacle for all of his students was the choice of topic for that first website. He devotes a whole section of the book to helping you uncover some fantastic ideas that you would never have thought of and overlooked.
He goes into depth with each of these potential topics and shows you how you can quickly discover if there is profit to be made or not which is the whole reason you want to get into affiliate marketing.
Gavin is now up and running and whilst he has the advantage of being a member James Martell’s Bootcamp, all of the information you or I need to get started on a budget is in the book and for anyone stepping on the first rung of the ladder it will certainly get them up the ladder and making some money.
After you start making some money you can invest in further training such as The Bootcamp and rapidly improve your profits because you now have some basic knowledge.
The Affiliate Marketing Handbook is an excellent reference book for ensuring you are getting all the basics right which is getting free traffic to your website and converting some of this traffic into profitable customers.
Isn’t that what this business is all about?
