Diary of an Affiliate Marketer
Today is supposed to be a day off but the one thing I love about this online business is that I do love it and don’t consider it work. When I have a spare hour or two I end up back in front of the computer screen because I want to get the free offer in place.
You spend a lot of time and energy trying to get people to your website, writing web pages, making sure you optimize for the search engines or attract the visitor with Pay Per Click and then you have just 3 seconds to make the right impression.
That’s right, just 3 seconds to get your visitor to stay and hear what you have to say. Another frightening statistic is that once a visitor has left your website over 70% will never return. That’s a detrimental statistic for any online business so you need to maximize the value of each visitor that arrives at your site.
One way of doing this is with auto responders. Every successful online business that I know of has an auto responder set up. How does this work?
Well you get the visitor to opt-in to your list by offering something of real value for free. Many people get this wrong and just try to get people to sign up for nothing and send emails that also contain nothing of real value other than sales pitches.
By offering something of real value for free your visitor is positive towards you and providing the following emails you send also contain worthwhile content they will eagerly await your daily, weekly or monthly emails sent out by the auto responder sequence.
It is the first time I am setting up my opt-in form on a Wordpress website and I can’t believe how easy it is and how quick it’s in operation. The more I’m using Wordpress the easy it’s getting.
I have to go and pick up my youngest daughter because her Suzuki jeep has a seized engine and is out of action. It didn’t have any of that stuff called oil!
Anyway it’s an opportunity to listen to the CD I received from Ken McCarthy’s The System Club Ken was asked to talk at Yanik Silver’s 30th birthday party bash. Yanik is a System graduate who makes millions and is one of the best copywriters around. I saw him give a talk and his ever expanding portfolio of services and products is impressive.
Ken was giving a basic talk to the graduates at Yanik’s party and it’s frightening how simple this business is that we are in, the online business. Once you have read the books, watched and listened to the videos and mp3’s the most critical thing you can do is take action.
Too many people are searching the internet looking for the guy who’s going to show them how it’s done and do it for them. That’s never going to happen. I can show you through this website how it’s done and the tools to use but you have to go and do it. You have to take action!
The action doesn’t have to be great. Through up a simple web page. Write an email. Set up a Google Adwords campaign and send them to your one page website. All of these actions are small steps and you are learning as you go.
It is pointless reading all the books, watching all the videos and listening to all the recordings if you don’t put it into action. Once you have put it into action you can improve it, another small step, and continue to improve it.
What action did I take today? I learnt how to put an opt-in form on a Wordpress website. Easy, simple, but an action.
What action are you going to do today and tomorrow?
