About

I have spent most of my working life in sales or management.

At the age of 25 after I had trained to be an electrician I left Ford Motor Company to join a retail company as a trainee manager and 3 years later was the regional manager responsible for 16 outlets.

Whilst I didn’t mind the long hours and rapid promotion through the ranks I did have a young family and realized I couldn’t maintain the hours required to do the job justice.

So, it was with regret that I left and joined the direct selling industry. This was a unique training experience selling door to door and face to face in the financial services industry. Once you can master the skill of selling a piece of paper with a promise to pay out sometime in the future you can sell anything.

I was steadily building a client base in the financial services industry but like so many of industries these days it needed government intervention to regulate it and the legislation introduced made it nearly impossible to make a living as it now took 3 times longer to do the paperwork than it did to carry out the interview.

Disillusioned I went back to Ford Motor Company where I was promoted to being a supervisor directly responsible for 60 plus people and was part of the management team controlling a factory with a turnover of $230m.

Whilst working for Ford Motor Company I set up a business with a business partner and started a jazz and blues coffee bar which was very successful. This encouraged us to take a gamble and open a second much larger unit in the heart of the marina where we could have live jazz and blues music.

I started my first website to support the business showing performing artists and letting the customers know who was appearing and also displaying past performances.

Since my introduction to the internet I discovered affiliate marketing, search engine optimization and all the other skills and tools you need to develop to be successful marketing on the internet.

I was very fortunate to come across Perry Marshall who introduced me to Ken McCarthy and The System and I have not looked back since and my only one regret is that I did not discover them sooner.

Knowing how difficult it is to find solid reliable information on the internet when there is so much ‘noise’ and people trying to sell you something all the time I decided it may be helpful if people could see what is involved on a day to day basis developing an online business and that is why I started this daily diary so people could follow my day to day activities.
