Diary of an Affiliate Marketer
I‘ve woken up excited today because listening to James Martell’s podcast on Zig Ziglar’s planning has helped me get organised and today I need to formalize it all.
My only task today is to clear my office, get my blueprint formalized and be ready to start tomorrow on set tasks laid out in the blueprint.
Sounds a lot easier than it actually is because as I delve deeper into each section of the plan there is a lot of details I need to write down. The beauty of this blueprint is that when it is completed and ready every task I need to complete will be listed with a deadline.
By answering the questions that Zig Ziglar recommends asking yourself I can see a plan developing and although it’s hard work it’s also satisfying work because all of a sudden I can see light at the end of the tunnel and I know what I will be doing each day.
One of the things that we learnt at The System was small steps. Each action should be another step, another improvement towards your goal and you only fail when you fail to take the next step.
For instance, if you could get your Google Adword to improve by just 1% then by the end of the end of the year you could have improved it by 50% if you carry on testing and improving your advert each week.
And if likewise you test the landing page each week and make a 1% improvement, well, you get the idea … compound improvements with little steps, that’s what The System is all about and Ken gives you the tools to succeed.
Anyway, I digress!
The blueprint has taken me all day but I’m very excited. I’ve been able to formalise all my objectives, how important they are and in which order they need tackling.
Just as importantly I can now use the blueprint I have laid out to set up my weekly tasks.
When I started with a retail company when I was younger my manager taught me how to set up a ‘batting order’. All the tasks that needed doing such as cleaning, moving stock, pricing stock, presentation and other tasks were all written down on a list.
Then we would re-write the list with just 10 items listed 1 to 10 with the most important task listed first and so on. These tasks would be tackled as and when our most important role of serving customers allowed us.
It was a great system!
I have used the same method to look at my blueprint and list the tasks that need carrying out such as writing articles for each of the websites, keyword research and so on. Then I’ve written a batting order out for the week 1 to 10 and I’m ready to start!
It’s been a very long day but worth every minute because I have a blueprint, a plan and path to my success and each little step I have listed will get me one step nearer to my goal.
